No Memphis, No Duke: How's Your Bracket Looking Now, Smarty Pants?

Still feeling smug about those safe picks you made at the start of the NCAA Tournament? I didn't think so. If you made the same mistake I did by picking the Memphis Tigers to go all the way to the National Championship, then your bracket probably has more holes in it than a slice of Swiss cheese.

On Thursday night J.T. Tiller put up 23 points and essentially ended Memphis' rally late in the game to lead Missouri past the Tigers by a score of 102-91. For their efforts, Missouri is now headed to the Elite Eight on Saturday where they'll meet up with top-seeded Connecticut.

“We came out and kind of took the fight to Memphis early on, and before you know it, our guys had a little confidence,” Missouri coach Mike Anderson said.

Uh huh. So what did a beat up Memphis team have to say for itself?

“We kind of got punched in the mouth right from the beginning of the game,” Memphis coach John Calipari said. “They broke us down defensively like we break people down. They beat us at our own game.”

Enough said.

Villanova 77, Duke 54

Okay, this one I had. The Wildcats set the game's tempo right from the start and tore into the Blue Devils like a ravenous tiger that hasn't eaten in weeks. And for dessert? How about a nice slice of Pittsburgh Panthers pie?
