Saturday, Feb. 16 in Las Vegas, N.V., undefeated boxing world champion Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik (32-0, 29 KOs) and former world champion Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor (27-1-1, 17 KOs) will fight for the second time.
After beating Taylor by TKO in their first match on Sep. 29, Pavlik is the -180 favorite to win again, according to boxing odds in the Bodog Sportsbook, while Taylor is a +150 underdog.
Although Taylor knocked Pavlik down in the second round of their first fight, "The Ghost" recovered and knocked Taylor out at 2:14 of the seventh round to win the WBC and the WBO middleweight titles. Afterwards, Taylor activated a clause in his contract for a non-title rematch.
Facing off for a second time, Pavlik isn't sure if the re-match will be easier or more difficult that their first match.
"It all depends on his style and how I stick to my game plan," he said during a recent conference call. "I don’t know how he’s going to react from that knockout. It was a stoppage, it was a pretty wicked knockout and neurologically I don’t know how’s he going to respond. I don’t know mentally if he’s going to be hesitant or if he’s going to come out firing."
"But, as you know we prepare for anything," he continued. "We prepare for everything that Jermain’s coming with. We’ll be prepared for him to come out banging, we prepare for him to coming out and boxing. So it’s just all on the 16th we’ll find out."
