Early in this contest it looked like a lock that the Pirates were going to beat the Braves.
Up 2-0 going into the bottom of the sixth Zach Duke was in complete control and looked poised for his first win of the season. Unfortunately, Duke and the Pirates' bullpen gave up three runs in the inning and had to rely on extra-inning heroics from Xavier Nady to beat the Braves 4-3.
After falling behind 3-2 Pittsburgh was able to tie the contest behind a Jack Wilson RBI single in the seventh, which eventually forced the game into extra innings and led to Nady 's RBI single.
Pirates closer Matt Capps was able to finish off the Braves in the bottom of the 10th by forcing Brian McCann to ground out with Mark Kotsay stranded on third.
The Pirates were +145 underdogs in this contest.
