From first-round NFL Draft pick to Rookie of the Year to Pro Bowl MVP. Adrian Peterson is on the fast track to superstardom.

The Minnesota Vikings’ running back scored twice in the second half and totaled 129 yards on 16 carries as the NFC rallied to beat the AFC, 42-30, in the Pro Bowl in Honolulu on Sunday.

The underdog NFC beat the point spread, which favored the AFC by a field goal. The betting total went over 63.

In a game that resembled the Arena League more than the NFL, the offenses of both teams went up and down the field with little opposition from the defense. The favored AFC looked dominant early with Peyton Manning at the helm. Manning hit T.J. Housmandzadeh with a 16-yard TD pass in the first quarter and led two other scoring drives as the AFC had a 17-7 lead after the opening 15 minutes.

They led 27-21 at halftime but only managed a field goal in the second half with Cleveland’s Derek Anderson taking most of the snaps.

For the NFC, the Cowboys’ Terrell Owens caught two touchdowns and finished with eight receptions for 101 yards. His first TD score was off a pass from teammate Tony Romo. His second came in the fourth quarter and gave the NFC a 35-30 lead. That pass was thrown by Owens’ former 49ers teammate and current Tampa Bay QB Jeff Garcia. Owens and Garcia famously feuded when the receiver left San Francisco for Philadelphia.
