Rackin' Up The Points

Hard to believe this week, so far, has had no 300-yard passing performances except that of multiply-injured and TO-less Donovan McNabb. Appositely, there were lower numbers recorded by wide receivers. Only Steve Smith and, surprisingly, Dennis Northcutt of Cleveland had over 100 yards and no wideout recorded multiple touchdowns through the air.

The ground game fared much better as we have thus far seen three backs record over 150 yards rushing and those three all had at least 2 touchdowns. LT2 led the Chargers to victory with 3 TDs on the ground and, just to make up for not finding the end zone the past two weeks, he caught one as well. Shaun Alexander and Larry Johnson were the other two backs you really wanted in your fantasy lineup this week.

The crazy times that have become the 2005 season for kicker Neil Rackers continued today as he remained perfect, booting his fourth 50-plus yarder of this season during today's loss to Seattle. That makes him 26-26 for field goals and 8-8 on PATs for the year, already tying his personal best for most field goals made in a season as he went 22-29 last year. Rackers must love playing the Seahawks as he has made 7 out of 8 attempts over 50 yards against them over the past two seasons. He tied an NFL record by kicking 3 field goals of 50 yards or more in one game against Seattle last October. That game also saw Seattle kicker Josh Brown boot one from over 50 yards, making four combined for the game, another record.
