While mixed martial arts might make some boxing promoters nervous, not everyone involved with "the sweet science" feels threatened by the rising popularity of events like the UFC, M-1 and Bodog Fight.
Once considered the best "pound-for-pound" boxer in the world, Roy Jones Jr. (51-4, 38 KOs) says he's a big fan of MMA.
"I think it’s wonderful," he says in an interview with Men's Fitness. "I’m a big fan. I watch a lot of it. I never really thought about getting in the cage, but I do love it. I love anybody that fights. That’s just what I am. I’m a fighter and I love anybody that has the heart to go in there and face somebody one on one and fight. You got to love that, you know?"
Picking Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (29-6-0) as his favorite fighter, Jones says he'd never train with any MMA fighters, but is happy to watch them go to war in the cage.
Jones will step into the ring next on Saturday, Jan. 19 to fight Felix Trinidad (44-2, 35 KO's) in New York at Madison Square Garden.
