Shamrock Brothers Feud Over Steroid Allegations

Frank Shamrock says his brother Ken has used steroids his whole life.

In a recent interview with MMAmadness.com, Strikeforce middleweight champion Frank Shamrock (24-8-1) spoke bluntly about his brother, Ken Shamrock (26-13-2), accusing him of life-long steroid use.

“Why do you think that his mind is so fried?" he said. "Why do you think he crumbles before the big fights? He's got no psyche. He let steroids give him a false sense of security and the moment that stuff is gone, he's no longer superman.”

Shamrock also said that steroid use is rampant in MMA and that over half the fighters in the sport today take performance-enhancing drugs of some kinds.

Now, his brother Ken is responding to the allegations.

"Frank has attacked my character," he says. "I’m not sure what his motives were, but Frank’s allegations are absolutely false. I have been subjected to mandatory steroid testing countless times and I have never tested positive for steroids, nor have I ever refused a test."

After defending himself, the elder Shamrock goes on to defend the sport.

"For Frank to state that a majority of fighters use steroids and that the promoters do not care, or that they somehow condone the use of steroids, is unbelievably irresponsible," he explains. "It tarnishes the image of every fighter and promoter in this industry."

"The comments Frank made about me and about the industry itself are based purely on his personal opinion," Ken concludes, "not on facts."

Frank is currently preparing to defend his Strikeforce title against Cung Le(5-0-0), March 29 in San Jose, Calif.

Currently, he is the -210 favorite in the Bodog Sportsbook, while Le is a +170 underdog.
