Give most PGA Tour players a well-manicured golf course and favorable weather and they're going to get a few birdies. Today, at Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Tex., low scores were the norm in the first round of the 2008 Shell Houston Open.
Adam Scott and Johnson Wagner both fired nine-under 63s and share the early lead. After that, it's Charley Hoffman (-7), Steve Stricker (-6) and a group of players, including Geoff Ogilvy, at five-under.

The favorite to win, Phil Mickelson, shot a disappointing even-par 72.
