Matchmakers behind the Yarennoka! event, scheduled for Dec. 31 at the Saitama Super Arena, have announced two more fights for their New Year's Eve card.
At a press conference in Tokyo, featuring former Pride director Nobuhiko Takada along with M-1 Global CEO Monte Cox, FEG boss Sadaharu Tanigawa and DEEP president Shigeru Saeki, it was announced that lightweight standout Gesias "JZ" Calvancante (14-1-1) will take on Japanese submission master Shinya Aoki (11-2-0).
A black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, Aoki is riding an eight-fight winning streak. "JZ" is coming off his second HERO"s 154-pound tournament victory, including a crushing first-round TKO win over top-ranked fighter Vitor "Shaolin" Riberio (19-2-0).
Also announced for the show was a match between DEEP champion Hidehiko Hasegawa (14-8-4) and Hayoto "Mach" Sakurai (30-7-2), who has not fought since his KO win over Mac Danzig (16-4-1) in February.
