Tara LaRosa vs. Cody Welchlin at Hook N Shoot

Tara LaRosa and Cody Welchlin will fight at Hook N Shoot, Nov. 24 in Evansville, Indiana.

It doesn't take long for Minnesota's Cody Welchlin (2-1-0) to make friends.

Meeting for the first time at the weigh ins for "Hook N Shoot", she and Bodog Fight women's 135lb champion Tara LaRosa (14-1-0) hit it off immediately, even though the two of them will be hitting each other Nov. 24 in Evansville, Indiana.

"She's funny as shit," LaRosa says. "I like her. She's really cool."

A training partner of Kelly Kobald (15-2-0), who LaRosa fought at Bodog Fight: New Jersey, LaRosa knows that Welchlin will come well-prepared to their fight this weekend.

"I think she's well rounded, but I have no tapes to go on," LaRosa explains. "All I have is second-hand accounts of her fight with Megumi Fujii. So she's scary."

But training with former Bodog Fight champion Eddie Alvarez (11-1-0) at the Philadelphia Fight Factory, LaRosa is learning some new tricks of her own. "My shit is getting straight, she says. I've been trying to conform to the Factory's style, and bring out some Alvarez aspects. They've got some slick shit on the ground, though, so I'm changing shit up a little bit."
