Texas Longhorns in the Elite Eight

Longhorns Prevail in Battle of National Contenders
The Texas Longhorns got just what they needed Friday night, a balanced attack from a number of key players including point guard DJ Augustin who added 21 points.
The final score read Texas by a mile over the opposing Stanford Cardinals, 82-62.
At times it looked as though the Cardinals would contest for the victory but ultimately it was the combined efforts of Augustin and Damion Jones who turned them aside.
Jones added 18 points in just 27 minutes.
Stanford forward and NBA hopeful Brook Lopez proved that he belongs in any discussion regarding the nation's finest big men as he led all scorers with 26 points and added 10 boards.
After a nine point half time deficit, Stanford battled back to within three, but would have a tough time getting any closer than that as their momentum waned.
On the game Texas shot just shades under 50 percent from the field while holding the third-seeded Cardinals to just 33.8.
Up next for the Longhorns, who also saw guard AJ Abrams and center Connor Atchley contribute with 12 and 10 points respectively, is the winner of tonight's Memphis/Michigan State match up.
