Three-Pronged Backcourt Propels Jayhawks to Elite Eight

Kansas killed Villanova (Ap Images)
In an anti-climatic and hardly unpredictable match up, the first-seeded Kansas Jayhawks put the Villanova sleeper run to rest, 72-57, on Friday night.
The three-pronged attack of Kansas guards proved to be too much for the Wildcats as Brandon Rush teamed with fellow backcourt-mates Mario Chalmers and Russell Robinson.
The trio of Rush, Robinson and Chalmers finished the contest with 16, 15 and 14 points respectively, while Scottie Reynolds led Villanova with 11.
As the Jayhawks managed to impress the crowd with a combination of alley-oops and three-pointers, the story of the game seemed to be the Wildcats' basic struggles from the field.
Never in their wildest dreams could Villanova expect to over-throw one of the nation's greatest basketball programs with percentages of 36.2 from the field and 17.6 from beyond the arc.
With the win the Jayhawks will advance to the Elite Eight to square off against giant-killing Davidson.
