The re-match between Georges "Rush" St. Pierre (15-2-0) and Matt Serra (9-4-0) isn't until April 19, but all of the tickets for UFC 83: Serra vs. St. Pierre 2 have already sold out.
"Most of the tickets were sold in the first 24 hours of our UFC Fight Club presale, and the rest were gone within one minute of the public on-sale today,” said UFC president Dana White. “I’m excited to say that this event is a sellout, and the fastest one in UFC history, so it’s safe to say we definitely will be back in Canada after this inaugural event.”
Although he was a massive underdog, Serra won the first match by knocking out St. Pierre at 3:25 into the first round at UFC 69: Shootout, April 7, 2007 in Houston, Texas.
Just over a year later, Serra will be the underdog again, at +350 in the Bodog Sportsbook. After winning the interim UFC welterweight title by defeating Matt Hughes (41-6-0) for the second time, St. Pierre is a -500 favorite.
For the first UFC ever in Canada, the card for the event is stacked with talent from North of the border, including Sam "Hands of Stone" Stout (13-3-1), Jason "The Athlete" Macdonald (19-9-0) and Patrick 'The Predator" Cote (12-4-0) who was added to the card at the last minute.
