USA Basketball Routs Australia in Olympic Quarters

Well, that was anti-climactic.

In a game anticipated to be the United States' first real test of the 2008 Summer Olympics, its Australian counterparts couldn't muster much of a fight, losing 116-85 in a game America dominated from the second quarter onward.

Kobe Bryant poured in 25 while LeBron James chipped in with 16 as the U.S. moved into the semifinals, where they will face defending Olympic gold medalists Argentina in the semis. Australia was paced by 20 points from phenom Patrick Mills, the sophomore from St. Mary's. Andrew Bogut, the lone NBAer on the Aussie roster, was invisible for much of the night and ended up with just four points in 11 minutes of action.

It promises to be an engaging affair in the semis though, as Argentina possesses one of the best teams in the international game and still have bragging rights as the winners from the previous games in Athens.
