Vanderbilt's Commodores defeated No. 1 Tennessee 72-69 in a college basketball game in Nashville on Tuesday with Shan Foster scoring 32 of their 72 points.

"It's special," Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings told the media afterward. "We needed a win. It was a home game. It's a big game for them. You want to win any game, but you certainly want to win big games. This was a big game."

Tennessee stayed close, but a 14-point spurt led to a seventh straight victory for Vanderbilt.

"They came out with the passion and played with more intensity than us. They wanted it more than us tonight, and it showed. They got the win and they deserved it," Tennessee's Chris Lofton, who earned the Vols 25 points, said.
