This week’s PGA tournament may be named after one of America’s greatest golfers but the leader board at Bay Hill looked like a UN gathering. Vijay Singh of Fiji was in a major groove on Friday as he fired a 66 to take a two-stroke lead into the clubhouse after two rounds of the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
Singh, who is at 9-under par, is ahead of Sweden’s Carl Pettersson (7-under) and Englishman Lee Westwood (6-under). After suffering from an illness that left him 20 pounds lighter, Singh appears healthy and ready to defend his title.
His performance after two rounds leaves Singh as the betting favorite with PGA golf odds of 13/8. Tiger Woods, who stands seven shots back, is the second choice at 11/2.
Woods is seeking his seventh straight win. He shot 2-under 68 on Friday.
