Not even Brandon Webb can stop the Yankees.
Bobby Abreu's hot bat belted a three-run homer and Chien-Ming Wang tossed seven stellar innings as streaking New York captured its seventh straight victory with a 4-1 decision over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of a three-game interleague series at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.
Wang (6-4) allowed one run on six hits with two strikeouts for the Yankees, whose season-high seventh straight win brought their record to 31-31 on the season. Abreu, who is now 19-for-41 during his last 11 games, raised his batting average to .273 with a 1-for-3 performance.
New York sits 9.5 games behind American League East-leading Boston.
Chad Tracy's solo home run accounted for the only offense for Arizona, which has dropped four of its last five games. Reigning NL Cy Young winner Webb (6-4) took the mound in front of the New York faithful and yielded four runs - three earned - on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
New York paid -168 on the moneyline (meaning a winning wager of $168 would net a $100 profit).
