Allen James graduated from a prominent Midwestern university with a Master's degree in English. He’s been a sports journalist in the U.S. for 20 years, focusing on gaming for the past decade. Whereas once he thought the Internet would ruin his print journalism career, instead the Web has allowed for new and better opportunities. Neither his dream career as a professional basketball player nor as a sports broadcaster got off the ground after learning he was just average in both during college.
Allen considers himself an expert in every major American sport other than horse racing (which isn't all that major anymore) and also international soccer. His sporting highlights as a journalist and fan include multiple visits to the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series and Stanley Cup Finals. Still on the bucket list is a trip to an overseas World Cup, British Open and Wimbledon.

The San Antonio Spurs just lost star swingman Manu Ginobili and backup center Tiago Splitter for two weeks apiece to various injuries. Yet San Antonio kept rolling along Monday night by winning 106-102 in Utah for the Spurs’ NBA-high 11th win in a row. Talent-wise, one could argue that Mississippi State is the second-best team in the Southeastern Conference. But the Bulldogs often don’t play to their talent level. However, don’t rule out a possible upset by MSU tonight when red-hot and top-ranked Kentucky visits. UK is a 9.5-point favorite and there will be live betting available at Bovada’s NCAA basketball odds.

The Boston Celtics appear to be fading again, as the C’s look to avoid a fourth straight loss on Monday night as they visit the NBA champion Dallas Mavericks for the only time this season. And the Mavs also enter off a loss so are likely to be plenty angry. Dallas is a 6-point favorite with live betting available at Bovada’s NBA basketball odds.
